this week over at young house love, they are doing a little organization series (which just sings to me...i love me some organizing). they spoke about pairing down the products that they use...which got me to thinking. "self - you are a product junkie and have a ton of crap you don't use." so one day earlier this week, i got to cleaning out the crap under our bathroom sink and pairing down the products that we use.
and i'm actually going to show you the before. i'm sorry for the mess...
so yeah....basically a disaster. that basket on the left was full of products that i sometimes use, sometimes don't. that basket on the right is full of medication (and goodness knows when was the last time i cleaned that out). so my mission was clear. not only did i need to get rid of stuff i don't use (and stop buying random products), i also needed to organize this so i could get to the stuff i do use more easily.
it took me all of 15 minutes to go through everything in here. my bathroom trash can was full of old junk.
as you can see, i got rid of a ton of crap and it is much more organized. now i can easily get to what i have and make sure to use it all up.
i felt inspired so i cleaned out my perfume samples (i have a bunch) and also cleared out a few drawers in our storage closet where we keep a few more bathroom products and junk.
i keep my make up and nail polish pretty organized anyway. i just went through to make sure any old products were tossed and organized the rest (in pretty little organizers i got from the container store last year).
i might have a few too many nail polishes. LOVE.
so that was my little organizational spree that i took on earlier this week. it felt good to clear out the old stuff and only keep what you use. my goal is to stop making random beauty product purchases and only buy the stuff that i know i will use.
spring cleaning and organizing at it's finest.

I read those YHL posts and they inspired me too! I just haven't had time yet to go through everything and start organizing. Hopefully soon!
